Saints star Broja is on United radar

-

NEWCASTLE United are on the hunt for attacking options after strengthening at the back this summer.

Armando Broja is thought of very highly among those in charge of transfer business at St. James’ Park and has emerged as a key target in recent weeks.

The Chelsea star, 20, wants firstteam football next season after holding his own at Southampton on loan in recent months.

Reports also suggest Broja has no intention of leaving the Blues on loan and wants to leave Stamford Bridge permanently if Thomas Tuchel isn’t prepared to use him.

West Ham have been at the front of the queue in recent weeks as David Moyes eyes attacking firepower this summer.

Everton are another Premier League club to register an interest in this window.

Italian clubs have held a longterm interest with Broja and have held talks with his agent in months gone by. AC Milan, Napoli and Atalanta are among Serie A clubs who have enquired.

But Southampton will be confident they can persuade Broja to return to St. Mary’s on a permanent deal.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has spoken openly of his admiration for the attacker and the pair enjoyed a good relationship during the recent loan spell.

Broja’s agent also has tight links with the South Coast club. Former Southampton star Ryan Bertrand plays a role in the agency, while two of their clients, Oliver Wright and Dynel Simeu, are also on the books at the club.

Chelsea fly out to America later this month and Broja wants assurances over his future before the end of the month.

The club’s new owner Todd Boehly has held talks with the player this week.

Newcastle are hopeful of adding more goals to their side in the coming weeks and are tracking a number of targets at present. Moussa Diaby and Anthony Gordon are two wide men who have been linked in recent days.
