It never Rains but it pours for Morpeth as they crash to leaders

NORTHUMBER­LAND and Tyneside League Division One leaders Tynedale totalled 218-7 at Morpeth.

That was thanks to 89 from James Rainford and 59 from Nathan Byerley following a poor start to their innings.

Earlier, Michael Craigs had taken 4-44 for the home side and when they batted Paul Johnston made 53 in 44 balls, including eight fours.

With little help from the rest of the team, however, Morpeth were all out for 135,

Deon Billington was the best of the Tynedale bowlers with 3-31.

Newcastle City smashed 274-6 at home to Stocksfiel­d, thanks to Zahid Khan making an impressive 109 from 81 balls, which included 13 fours and two sixes.

Omar Ahmed added 50 and Hassan Raza 46, while Steven Henderson claimed four wickets.

In reply, the visitors struggled as Khan took early wickets and ended up claiming 6-25,.

Stocksfiel­d crashed to 79 all out in 28.1 overs.

Percy Main posted 169-9 at home to bottom club Tillside.

Aiden Pieters made the highest score of 33 and Ben Jenkins added 30, while Joe Bickerton bowled well taking 4-36.

Bickerton then hit 31 and Liam Hindmarsh made a useful 60 as his side ended up all out for 136.

Owen Shield (5-32) and Jack Roys (3-40) did the damage.

■LITTLETOWN struggled against Readers Durham and North East League leaders Brandon and were dismissed for just 129.

T’Jhari Clarke top-scored with 37 as Gordon Muchall claimed 3-27. In reply, Muchall amassed 64 not out in 68 balls, including nine fours and one six.

Chris Peareth added 46 not out in a final score of 130-1 in only 23.4 overs to strengthen Brandon’s position at the top.

Durham City smashed for 268-6, at home to Boldon, with Adam Khan scoring 63, George Pullinger 56 and Lewis Carney 53 not out.

In reply, Boldon struggled to 34-4, only J Carroll with 25 adding anything of note as they crashed to defeat on 103 all out.
