Dates for next year’s annual Hoppings fair announced

-

THE Hoppings might have only ended a few weeks ago but organisers have already announced the dates for next year’s event.

After three years away and to summers without Europe’s travelling funfair due to the Covid pandemic, there was much excitement about The Hoppings making its return to Newcastle in June this year.

Having been around for more than a century now, The Hoppings has established itself as a Tyneside institution, so there was no shortage of takers to enjoy all the fun of the fair, when it returned to its traditional home of the Town Moor for a just over a week’s worth of good times.

Unlike in years gone by, when the elements have been far from kind on the event, Mother Nature dealt it a good hand of weather, with largely sunny weather and warm temperatures gracing the Moor as thrill seekers headed up to enjoy white knuckle rides like the MACH5, Air and Top Spin, while little ones enjoyed a host of family rides and side shows.

There was also a big first for The Hoppings this year, when it had its first fully licensed bar for the public, which was a popular calling point in vast food village Feast Street, home to well known local vendors like former Stack favourites Acropolis and Hatch 76.

And now, organisers have released the dates for next year.

A post on The Hoppings’ Facebook page early on Thursday evening revealed that it will take up residence on the Town Moor from Friday, June 16, to Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Hoppings regulars were quick to react to the news, with one excited fan replying: “Be counting down the days!”

And another excited follower wrote: “Gonna book it off work and come again.”
