EBAC NORTHERN LEAGUE

-

SHILDON suffered a major setback in their bid to claim the Northern League title as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at play-off chasing Guisborough Town.

The Railwaymen looked on their way to a narrow win at the KGV Stadium as David Vincent’s firsthalf goal remained the difference between the two sides as the final five minutes of the game arrived.

However, a late push from the hosts saw Jordan Fielding score twice to give them all three points and hand a boost to Bishop Auckland’s hopes of overhauling Shildon at the top of the table.

Horden CW moved back into the Division Two play-off places as David Doughty got the only goal of the game in their home win against Sunderland West End.

Jarrow completed an unlikely league double over Bedlington Terriers as first-half goals from Thomas Ions and Levi Collins gave Kennie Malia’s men a 2-0 win in a game held at Sunderland’s Ford Hub.

Matt Law and Craig Fairley both hit hat-tricks as Prudhoe YC romped to a 9-0 win against Brandon United. Josh Scott, Lee Blackburn and Ben Dibb-fuller also netted for the hosts.

Joel Pearson and Aaron Hardy were on target as Chester-lestreet Town battled to a 3-0 win at Thornaby and Rhys Mcleod and Matthew Todd scored as Ryton and Crawcrook Albion inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Washington.

A Matty Foster brace and a Stephen Pennington strike put Newcastle University on their way to a 3-1 win at FC Hartlepool. Phil Angus netted for the hosts.
