North East actor pals sing praises of region in show
NORTH East TV star Robson Green and friend and fellow actor Mark Benton have been spotted filming at one of Teesside’s best-loved beach spots.
The pair, plus a camera crew, were seen in Saltburn and Robson, star of Soldier, Soldier and Grantchester, took to his social media feed to explain why.
He told his 40,000 followers on Instagram the duo are making a new BBC series that showcases the North East.
Teesside’s hidden gems will feature in it said the actor, who went on to describe our part of the world as ‘beautiful.’
Together with Mark, who grew up in Eston, Teesside he posted pictures of the pair walking along the sands at Saltburn near the pier eating ice creams and standing on the top prom near Saltburn’s famous cliff tramway. Robson also posted pictures of them wearing wetsuits and doing a bit of open-water swimming at a location that was not identified.
“Had the best week filming with Mark Benton on an episode of our new BBC series that showcases the North East. Mark showed me around the roads less travelled in Teesside as we discovered the hidden gems of this beautiful area. An incredibly joyous and entertaining few days with someone who is still very proud to call this part of the world home.”
Fans will know the pair starred together in the TV series Northern Lights about a pair of competitive brothers. Mark has starred in many TV series and is a familiar face on our screens, including the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing where he partnered Lithuanian pro Iveta Lukosiute.
