Shoes and handbags stolen as Joelinton watched his team play

-

A HAUL of shoes and handbags was stolen from the luxury Northumberland home of Toon star Joelinton during a daring raid two months ago.

Police are still hunting for the burglars who targeted the midfielder’s Darras Hall mansion while he and his family were at St James Park watching Newcastle United take on Manchester United, on

January 13. It is understood Brazilian Joelinton received a security alert on his phone telling him three people were inside his property and he called police at around 7.30pm.

But by the time officers arrived the raiders had fled. No one has yet been arrested and Northumbria Police says enquiries are ongoing.

Forensics teams could be seen working at the home, which was cordoned off on the night of the break-in, and two helicopters were deployed.

There continued to be a police presence at the footballer’s house the following morning, with forensics teams at the property before Joelinton arrived in his Mercedes G-class after 10.30am.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said at the time: “Shortly before 7.30pm, police received a call from a concerned homeowner who reported that three men were inside their home in Darras Hall.”

The break-in at Joelinton’s home came just weeks after Manchester City star Jack Grealish had jewellery worth £1m stolen from his Cheshire home as the Sky Blues won 3-1 against Everton. Manchester

City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken about the rise in such crime, saying that burglars are waiting to strike when they know footballers will not be at their property.
