Police appeal after traffic warden abuse

A TRAFFIC warden was subjected to a barrage of verbal abuse and threatened by a man in earshot of children in a Newcastle city centre street.

Police have now released a photo of a man, right, they would like to speak to about the incident.

It happened on Cross Street, near the 02 Academy, at about 3.10pm on Saturday, March 4.

The traffic warden was approached by a man who was verbally abusive towards him.

Police say he threatened him with violence as children and families walked nearby.

A Northumbri­a Police spokesman said: “The man, or anyone who knows his identity, should contact police on 101 quoting log 702 04/03/17 or Crimestopp­ers anonymousl­y on 0800 555 111.”
