Cestrians finish a Street ahead in league meeting

CHESTER-LE-STREET outgunned Littletown by 78 runs in the Durham Cricket Board Junior Central Division, writes SAM BLACKLOCK.

Batting first, Chester-le-Street posted 143-2 from 19 overs.

Robbie Dawson top-scored with 35, including four fours and one six, backed by 30 runs apiece from Sebastian Hughes-Pinan and Matthew Lumb.

In reply, Littletown struggled to 65 all out - Metcalfe top-scoring with 18 backed by 15 from Bland and 14 from Hugill.

Ben Ward, Max Jackson and Gabrial Hughes-Pinan all picked up two wickets for Chester-le-Street.

Burnmoor beat Washington by 39 runs while Philadelph­ia overcame Sacriston by nine wickets.

HETTON Lyons progressed to the final of the DCB Under-13s League Cup with victory over neighbours Eppleton.

Winning the toss, the Lyons elected to bat, amassing 133-7 from their 20 overs with skipper Luke Husband top-scoring with an unbeaten 33 - backed by 28 from Josh Bell and 21 from Joe Weightman.

Josh Hutchinson (2-17) and Nathan Bushby (2-19) struck for Eppleton.

Eppleton started well in reply with openers Jake Pratt (31) and Edward Brown (31) retiring - but 2-8 from Jack Scott and 2-27 from Taylor Vout restricted them to 118-6 from their 20 overs.

However, Eppleton did enjoy a 20-run victory over Hetton Lyons Gold the following day in a league clash.

Eppleton batted first and reached 151-6 from 20 overs thanks to 33 from Josh Hutchinson and 30 from Pau Lawson - backed by 27 from Edward Brown.

The Lyons fell 20 runs short in reply despite 30 from Jack Hedley, 28 from James Hutchinson and 24 from Daniel Walker.

Luke Johnson bagged 2-20 for Eppleton.

CASTLE Eden amassed 169-1 when they hosted Burnmoor in Division Two of the Durham Cricket Board Under-18 League.

Benjamin Simpson scored a brilliant century (110no) and Issac Unsworth 38.

In reply, Burnmoor only managed 77 due to excellent bowling from Will Iceton (3-25).

Philadelph­ia posted 113-5 when they hosted Ryhope and openers Alex Davison (43) and Greg Halliday (39) led the way, Graham Pickering taking two wickets.

In reply, Ryhope crashed to 64-9, with Jonny Lavery claiming 3-8 and Luke Robinson 3-13 to win Phili the match.
