Squads take their Chance to seal Festival glory

SCHOOLS CRICKET

-

THE Northumberland Cricket Board held its first West Northumberland Chance to Compete Softball Festival with schools competing for a place in the county final.

With six schools each entering two boys’ and two girls’ teams, nearly 200 children were involved.

St Joseph’s Middle defeated Boys’ winners St Joseph’s and girls’ champs Corbridge Middle Ovingham Middle in the boys’ final while Corbridge Middle School overcame St Josephs in the girls’ decider.

Both teams will represent West Northumberland at the County finals on June 14 and organisers would like to thank teachers and cricket activators for battling the damp weather conditions and making the day a success. ■■LOTS more junior cricket reports in next Saturday night’s Grassroots Sport - to feature your team e-mail tony. hodgson@trinitymirror.com.
