All the Fun of the Fair: 135 Years of The Hoppings

With The Hoppings now here for its annual summer visit, this Newcastle museum has launched a timely exhibition celebrating all the fun of the fair. The new show, running until October 1, captures the history of The Hoppings, the annual favourite which was first held on the Town Moor in 1882. Charting its development over the years in a colourful and fun setting, it will also feature 50 coin-operated vintage amusement machines for visitors to play as well as pinball games where they can show off their skills. The exhibition is open 11am-4pm at weekends and 10am-4pm on weekdays. It’s free but donations would be welcome. For more on what’s on offer see discoverymuseum.org.uk
