Wearsiders set a deadline for takeover talks

-

SUNDERLAND owner Ellis Short hopes to have takeover talks completed by the end of this month, with interest from a German group and a US-based consortium.

The Black Cats are without a manager as Robbie Stockdale prepares to take on first-team coaching duties when the players return for pre-season training on June 29.

A club statement last week revealed takeover talks had hampered the search for David Moyes’ successor, with no guarantees able to be offered.

The statement confirmed that as such, a deadline had been set for takeover talks to conclude, with the date expected to be the end of the month. It is expected if a deal cannot be completed for new owners at the Stadium of Light, Short will commit to staying and helping the Black Cats prepare for the upcoming campaign in the Championship.
