Singh is the star as Blyth Wark to title

BLYTH finally secured the title with a comprehensive 125-run victory over Warkworth.
They put behind them last week’s poor batting display and this time totalled a decent 245.
Gary Quinn hit eight fours and and a six in 72 with Andrew Ebdale (43) and Surj Singh (36) also contributing. Adam Hall took 4-65.
Warkworth made a good start to their reply with openers Stephen Dargue and Scott Gibson both scoring 36 before Singh ripped through the innings.
Warkworth were quickly bowled out with only 120 on the board as Singh finished with figures of 7-16 – leaving Blyth to start their title celebrations.
Stobswood lost at home in the important bottom-of-the-table clash with Cramlington by 64 runs – leaving them on the brink of relegation.
Billy Pulman hit six boundaries in his important 52 as Cramlington finished on 156-8 from the reduced 45 overs.
Alan Livingstone (4-29) and Joseph Ingram (3-34) then helped to bowl out last season’s Division One champions for only 92 in reply.
Stobswood, 25 points adrift of safety, need to beat Blue Flames to have any chance of survival.
Cramlington remain second bottom and are still not safe after Berwick cancelled out Cramlington’s success by winning at Corbridge.
The Borders club overcame Corbridge by 98 runs to stay just above the drop zone.
Reduced to 40 overs, Berwick posted 158-8 thanks to 60 from Elliott Keenan and 45 by opener Scott Middlemist.
Corbridge managed only 60 in reply with Middlemist (3-9), Steven Emery (3-19) and Nalinda Prem- chandra (3-20) all combining to bowl out their hosts.
Berwick, who end their campaign at Warkworth on Saturday, remain three points better off than Cramlington, who host Ashington Rugby in the season’s finale.
Second-placed Backworth lost at Ashington Rugby by 15 runs, their reply losing interest after they heard the Blyth result.
Callum Milburn (47) and David Dent (46) helped the hosts to 188-8 from their reduced 40 overs, Chris Miller finishing with 4-53.
Backworth were 102-2, Mick Nicholson scoring 45 and Mark Minto 30.
Tailenders Chris Liddle (19) and Miller (15) took Backworth closer after a mid-order collapse – but they fell short on 173.
Scott Maddison finished with figurs of 5-37 for Rugby.
