LEADERS Bomarsund failed to wrap up the title after they lost at Whickham Seconds by two wickets.

Bomar finished on 184-9, with Jonny Scope top-scoring with 55 and Sam Thornton making 40.

Andrew Wilson contribute­d 70 as Whickham reached 186-8 to move up to third.

Liam Besford took 3-41 with Dan Robinson claiming 3-32.

Bomarsund’s lead was cut to just 13 points, with only 30 points separating the top four.

Bomar end the season at home to Clara Vale on Saturday, with both sides needing a victory.

Whitley Bay stay strong favourites for promotion after their threewicke­t victory at Ulgham.

The hosts were bowled out for 132, James Lovat top-scoring with 42 with Jack Jeffrey claiming 3-22 and Chris Wrigley finishing with 3-8.

Chris Dunn hit 46 for Whitley Bay in their reply before they reached 133-7.

Fourth-placed Clara Vale easily prevailed at Kirkley to keep alive their promotion hopes.

Naveed Iqbal (4-36) and Riaz Mohammed (6-12) combined to bowl out the bottom club for a paltry 50.

Vale needed only 10 overs to reach 51-1.

Monkseaton join Kirkley in dropping down – their relegation confirmed after they lost at Backworth Seconds by 28 runs.

The seconds posted 149-5, boosted by Joel Langley who struck 45 not out.

Chris Beever claimed 3-37 for Monkseaton, who could only manage 92 in reply. David Hull-Denholm registered figures of 5-40.

Civil Service lost narrowly at home to Blagdon Park Seconds by four runs, ending their promotion hopes.

The second team was bowled out for 124, Ganesh Thorat the pick of the bowlers with 4-26.

Civil Service fell short as they were dismissed for 120, Jamie Case recording 5-42.

The rain left the ground unfit for play at Warenford, leading to their match against Hebburn being called off.

■BLUE Flames could yet snatch runners-up spot in the Premier Division after their 22-run success over Whickham in a low-scoring game.

The Benton side was all out for 98 as Matthew Rodger took 6-41.

Blue Flames successful­ly defended their score, Andrew Horner claiming 7-33, as Whickham could only muster 76 in their reply.
