The new cen­tre will be in­valu­able for the pupils and will ad­dress var­i­ous as­pects of their in­di­vid­ual needs, pro­vid­ing them with life chang­ing ex­pe­ri­ences.

So the fund are call­ing on you to lend a help­ing hand on an­nual Christ­mas Jumper Day.

Any­one can do­nate £2 and wear their fes­tive best on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 15.

Sup­port­ers of The Sun­shine Fund, in­clud­ing pa­tron Vicky Pat­ti­son and Min­coffs Solic­i­tors, have all got­ten on board again this year and schools, of­fices, shops, com­mu­nity groups and lo­cal or­gan­i­sa­tions are urged to join in the fun and make a dif­fer­ence to these chil­dren’s lives.

The school not only need a spe­cial­ist hoist for their re-bound ther­apy cen­tre but kids from the school are in des­per­ate need of play­ground equip­ment as their cur­rent play­ground is bare.

Lau­ren Thomp­son, com­mu­nity fundraiser for The Sun­shine Fund, said: “We al­ways love see­ing pic­tures and videos of Christ­mas Jumper Days across the North East and this year is no ex­cep­tion. We’re hop­ing the North East gets be­hind us and sup­ports again this year as all fundrais­ing will be supporting lo­cal chil­dren with dis­abil­i­ties. Dave Robin­son, a teacher at Hadrian School, added: “The new play­ground will give our chil­dren a stim­u­lat­ing and ex­cit­ing place to play. The new equip­ment will give our chil­dren the op­por­tu­nity to de­velop their phys­i­cal and so­cial skills on a daily ba­sis.”
