-

A MAN has been taken to hospital after his car overturned outside a Gateshead hospital.

The car was involved in a collision when it flipped over on its roof on the pavement of Queen Elizabeth Avenue near Old Durham Road yesterday morning.

Emergency services attended just after 10am and found a man trapped inside the vehicle, forcing firefighters to cut him from the car using Holmatro cutting equipment.

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that he was taken to the nearby Queen Elizabeth Hospital and police say his injuries are not thought to be serious.
