Academy hope it is second time lucky in Premier League clash

GOSFORTH Academy Under-16s’ Premier League ESFA sixth-round game against Darlington’s Hurworth School was postponed last week.

It will now be staged next Wednesday with a 3.30 kick-off.

NEWCASTLE School for Boys’ Under-15’s reached the quarterfinals of the ESFA PlayStation Small Schools’ Trophy after overcoming Boroughbridge School 8-3.

The first half was a tight affair with Newcastle only being ahead 3-2 at the break.

Goals from James Harper and a brace from Alex Nicholson gave them the lead.

In the second period, Harper and Nicholson completed their hat-tricks and further efforts from Will Varley and Oliver Fletcher gave them an emphatic victory.

They now travel to play Winterton School from Scunthorpe in the quarter-finals.
