I AM in my 70s now, but have a recollection of being in a lecture room – in Newcastle I think - with my brother for science lectures. I remember one being on light and experiments to show white light was made up of the colours of the rainbow, then reversing this by spinning a many-coloured wheel so fast that all you could see was white.
I do hope I am remembering this correctly. Could you possibly tell me where and when this was? And do such lectures still take place for North East kids?
My brother and I lived in Boldon. I also remember us going to the Castle Keep to be able to collect the numbers of the trains as they left the station.
Is that kind of thing still allowed, or were we just very lucky to be kids in the 1950s?
