A HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated to our JustGiving campaign for Tabitha. More than £400 has been raised so far and we’re very close to our target of £600. Tabitha is a sharpei who was left abandoned, without any form of identification and in need of urgent veterinary care. We are appealing for your help to fund Tabitha’s previous and further treatments and surgery which she so desperately needs. Read all about Tabitha’s story at https://www.justgiving. com/campaigns/charity/dogandcatshelter/ tabithas-trauma. Every single penny helps as we rely on public donations to fund vital veterinary care like Tabitha’s.

We had a fantastic day at Jollyes in Westerhope on Saturday with the chance to speak to lots of our supporters. Thank you to everyone who popped along to chat to us and donate and of course to Jollyes for having us. Your next chance to see us out and about in the local community will be on March 31 at Sainsbury’s in Forest Hall. We’ll be there from 11am until 4pm.

There’s lots to look forward to at Benton North Farm. We have our annual Easter egg hunt on April 4, followed by our National Pet Day workshop on April 11. Both events will begin at 1.30pm and finish at 3.30pm at Benton North Farm, Benton Lane, Newcastle NE12 8EH. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our annual Funday is taking place on May 7 at Benton North Farm from 12.30pm until 3.30pm. We’ll have live entertainment, kids’ inflatables, dog show, dog training demo,

tombola, raffle, food, drink, stalls and more. It’s the perfect family day out, especially for bank holiday Monday! Entry is only 50p for adults. Kids and well-behaved dogs go free. Make sure to add it to your diary as it is not to be missed. Animals for homes (pictured left)

Peggy (cat 386), is about a year old and arrived at the shelter in November 2017. Peggy is always happy to see people and she loves to be stroked, especially when she’s getting a little tickle behind the ear.

She can be picked up, but she will ask to be put down quite quickly. Peggy is a sweet, loving cat who adores affection from people. She is a little nervous around children, so she will need a home where everyone is over 16.

Star & Twinkle (Nos 64 and 66 respectively) were born at the shelter in September 2017. They are a pair of very sweet girls who would suit any home as they have a lot of love and affection to give.
