Body of man, 27, discovered in city library

THE body of a 27-year-old man has been found inside Newcastle’s City Library.

The tragic discovery was made on Monday evening.

Emergency services, including paramedics, raced to the New Bridge Street West library, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene,

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At around 7pm on Monday we received reports of concern for a man at City Library on New Bridge Street West in Newcastle.

“Emergency services attended and sadly a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to formally identify the body and trace the next of kin.

“There is not believed to be any third party involvement.

“A report will now been prepared for the coroner.”

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said a rapid response vehicle was dispatched at 6.45pm but stood down by police upon arrival.
