Arson probe after car is found on fire
A CAR found burning in a Newcastle street is being treated as arson, police say.
Firefighters were called to Hallow Drive in Throckley, where a car fire was raging.
Mobile phone footage showed flames engulfing the parked vehicle, which had its boot open.
It took firefighters approximately half an hour to extinguish the blaze.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “At around 10.06pm on Tuesday, July 10, police were informed by the fire service of a vehicle fire on Hallow Drive in Throckley.
“Emergency services attended the scene and the fire was put out.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances around the fire but it is currently being treated as arson.
“Anyone with information should contact us by calling 101 quoting log 1234 10/07/18.”
