Arson probe after car is found on fire

A CAR found burning in a Newcastle street is being treated as arson, police say.

Firefighte­rs were called to Hallow Drive in Throckley, where a car fire was raging.

Mobile phone footage showed flames engulfing the parked vehicle, which had its boot open.

It took firefighte­rs approximat­ely half an hour to extinguish the blaze.

A Northumbri­a Police spokeswoma­n said: “At around 10.06pm on Tuesday, July 10, police were informed by the fire service of a vehicle fire on Hallow Drive in Throckley.

“Emergency services attended the scene and the fire was put out.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstan­ces around the fire but it is currently being treated as arson.

“Anyone with informatio­n should contact us by calling 101 quoting log 1234 10/07/18.”
