Get creative and transform space Vic missing but is not forgotten

-

THIS summer people with creative ideas are invited to come and occupy the back yard at Cobalt in the Ouseburn Valley and build something, make things or make something happen.

The plan is there is no plan, simply a space and ideas to bring people together.

This is an experimental artistic project to see what might happen when people are given an open invitation to make creative proposals.

Over the course of the summer temporary installations will evolve for visitors and the local community to come and enjoy.

The possibilities are endless, covering everything from building a fire pit, stage or growing space to communal

meals. Proposals already received include an urban garden, live physics experiments and sound installations using the wind.

Occupy and Make is a pilot for a longer-term proposal hopefully involving a container development housing affordable artists’ studios, a small gallery and a communal workshop as well as a café.

Running without funding the experiment will evolve on goodwill, resourcefulness and donations helping to build a stronger community and shape the long-term plans for the space.

It will both compliment and comment on this summer’s Great Exhibition of the North providing a fresh space for creativity and collaboration without taxing public money.

If you are interested in using the space, have something to donate or would like to be involved in our clear-up days to get the space ready, please contact cobaltstudiosltd@ gmail.com with the subject ON the front of the Chronicle supplement United Through the Decades is a picture of the
