Hair’s to best friends a girl could wish for
PALS RAISE FUNDS AFTER ALLEGED ATTACK AT CLUB
Crime Reporter A YOUNG mum says she cries every time she looks in the mirror after her hair was pulled out in an alleged nightclub attack.
Pretty Hollie-Louise Brown was left cut and bruised with large bald patches on the top of her head after the incident at Bubbles, in Ashington.
Police have arrested three women in connection with the alleged assault, which happened during the early hours of Sunday morning.
And now, after Hollie’s friends launched a fundraising drive to help fix her hair, a Newcastle salon has stepped in and fitted a hairpiece free of charge while the mum-of-two waits for her brunette locks to grow back.
After the attack, Hollie, 23, said: “I just can’t stop sobbing every time I walk past the mirror. My two babies have had to see me like this and it’s broken my heart.
“I’m absolutely heartbroken at the state of myself. I don’t know how I’m ever going to face the outside world again.”
Friend Kim Foster set up a JustGiving page to help Hollie pay for her hair treatment.
She said: “I’m setting up this page to give Hollie the best hair treatment and the princess hair she deserves.
“So please if everybody could give as little or as much as they can it will be appreciated.
“Please give Hollie the best treatment she deserves.”
Friends and well-wishers donated more than £1,200 in a matter of days.
However, on Wednesday Hollie visited Dreamgirlz hair extensions salon, in Jesmond, where staff agreed to fit a hair replacement system for free, with Hollie just paying for the cost of materials.
She says she will use the rest of the money raised to maintain the system until her hair grows back.
She said: “I never expected the target to go to as much as it has. I’m very grateful and will be using the rest of the money to keep getting my new hair system refitted every month until my hair hopefully grows back again.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for helping me so much.”
Hollie says she was stamped on and kicked during the alleged attack. Now, police are appealing for witnesses. A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “In the early hours of Sunday, police received a report of an assault at Bubbles nightclub on John Street in Ashington. “It was reported that a group of women became involved in an altercation inside the bar at around 12.45am that then carried on outside the premises. “During the incident, a 23-year-old woman was assaulted and had to receive medical attention for her injuries. “Three women – aged 23, 25 and 28 – were arrested in connection with the incident and have since been released under investigation.” Police believe there were other witnesses in the club at the time and anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact officers.
