Holidays that are picture perfect

Hundreds of youngsters capture their favourite moments on camera to enter Thomas Cook’s special contest for budding reporters

-

S mile please – and say, “Cheese!” Happy young holidaymakers have been travelling the globe this summer and they’ve captured the best and brightest moments of their sunshine break on camera.

Leading travel company Thomas Cook asked tiny travellers and teenage tourists to freeze-frame those magical holiday moments to remember long after the luggage has been unloaded and the souvenirs given to Grandma and Grandad.

It was part of a campaign to showcase its family holidays, with budding reporters putting pen to paper or tapping their keyboards to create their very own travel reviews. And hundreds of young snappers have shared their favourite moments and most exciting experiences in the Say Cheese Holiday Snap of the Year Competition – and put themselves in the frame for some fantastic prizes.

Forget Mum’s dull sight-seeing snaps or Dad’s daily diary of what’s for lunch, you’ve sent snaps of sensational sunrises worthy of a wall mounting and comical photos of your little brothers falling asleep in their supper or sliding headfirst off the floating flamingo.

And you’ve told us why that magical moment summed up what was special about your time away and made it the “best holiday ever”. There is one winner from each of two age groups – the eights and under, and the nine to 15-year-olds, who will each be rewarded with an iPad mini, and some Lollo and Bernie kids’ club mascot goodies.

And, of course, they get the chance to show off their winning image to thousands of people in the country’s top regional newspaper titles – as well as taking pride of place in the family photo album.

So, many thanks to all the junior snappers. Thomas Cook received so many amazing entries which made judges both giggle and gaze at in wonder. Here are the two winning photos…
