Many trod the path to Ladbrooke Grove, west London, buying parts for AJS, Matchless, Triumph et al motorcycles from Hamrax Motors. Having traded for nearly 40 years, partners Don Houseman and Butch Metzger announced their retirement. The shop would close at the end of October.

They’d discounted some items, were selling batches to rival dealers and two staff members hoped to buy some stock to establish their own business. Don quipped that at 67 they’d had enough of the stairs linking the shop’s four floors and needed a single storey building!
