Competitio­n for shield at Lintrathen

LINTRATHEN LOCH’s opening competitio­n took place on Sunday with 26 anglers taking 59 for 133lb, writes our angling correspond­ent.

John Browning won the Lintrathen Shield with four for 13lb 10oz, including an 8lb 4oz rainbow.

Alan Ramshaw was runner-up with four for 10lb 1oz.

Best boat was Duncan Campbell and John Browning with eight fish for 21lb 10oz.

RESCOBIE, is fishing well at the moment, with a good number of anglers catching their limit.

Mr Kidd caught four for 15lb 9oz with 5lb rainbow and 4lb 12oz blue.

Member’s fish of the month for March was won by W Whittle with a brown trout of 6lb 12oz.

Newtyle and Meigle caught 24 for 57lb 13oz, the Dundee East End AC had 18 for 41lb 10oz and Perth Ex-service got 33 for 81lb 14oz.

At GLENSHERRU­P buzzers and lures are starting to catch the trout.

Some of the catches include Farmers AC 22 for 50lb, Birkhill AC 14 for 32lb, Ivie Collinson four for 9lb 8oz with 14 returned and Peter Malcolm four for 10lb with six returned.

MONIKIE continues to fish well with large hatches of buzzers now being experience­d.

Notable catches include A Osborne five for 10lb, Harold Lewis five fish for 10lb, G Bell and D Brown 10 for 23lb, Jim Stewart and R McDonald 10 for 20lb 10oz and D Morrison and R Malkowski nine fish for 23lb 14oz.

Can more AC Forfar took 18 for 35lb 10oz, Broughty AC took six for 11lb 12oz, Balgay AC 30 for 63lb 3oz, Dundee West End AC 29 for 59lb 5oz and Anstruther AC 32 for 69lb 2oz.

Recent catches at CARLOGIE DAM include Dave Mahoney (Dundee) catch and release 18, Colin Cameron (Dundee) c/r 21, N Boath (Tayport) c/r eight, Ally Stewart (Dundee) c/r 21, W Clark (Forfar) c/r 9, Dave Thoms (Carnoustie) c/r 10, D. Bruce (Bannockbur­n) c/r 14, C Lamond (Kirrie) c/r 7, J Strang (Larbert) three for 7lb with four returned and T Wallace (Dundee) four for 7lb and six returned.

Last Thursday there were some phenomenal catches on the LAKE OF MENTIETH with one angler reported to have caught more than 50 to his rod.

The Scottish Police Recreation Associatio­n, netted 246. CBAC took 26 for 66lb and returned 51, Dalzell AC had 32 for 81lb and returned more than 60, while CIBA of Paisley caught 146.

FRANDY FISHERY has reported good catches again this week past.

David Bain and son ( Perth ) had 10 for 20lb 10oz, Mike Willis and James Scobie ( Dunblane ) six for 13lb, Bill Ramage (Alva) four for 8lb with two released.

Peter Paterson released nine. Ben McGovern (Sauchie) released three, Mark Paterson (Plean) caught two for 4lb 8oz, releasing six, Jimmy and Scott Barrett (Stanley) kept three for 6lb 4oz and released 15, while Robert Peden (Kelty) kept two for 4lb and released 17.

Neptune Game AC kept 27 for 51lb, Good Companions AC 41 for 81lb and Tillicoult­ry AC 14 fish for 28lb 2oz.
