Tay beginning to produce good catches

The Stanley area of the Tay continues to produce catches at a good level.

Alex Graham caught a 20lb spring salmon from the bank on Upper Redgorton, while Chris Rae caught a 4lb early run sea trout on Benchil from Aitken Head.

On the Pitlochrie beat Dan Lennon caught two fish up to 15lb from Pitlochrie pool on the bank and casting from the boat in the Wash House.

Ian Kettles landed a 15lb fish from the Catholes Back Dam on a Devon, then the fly took over with fish for Iain Jardin and a brace for Stuart Waddell.

Taymount and Stobhall caught most days with each beat catching three on Friday.

At Taymount Simon Marriott and Peter Chapman caught early in the week while Andrew Spencer had a double with fish up to 14lb, then on Saturday Peter Chapman landed one for 20lb.

Cargill ended the week with 11 spring salmon weighing 29lb. Successful anglers were Sandy Wylie, Steve Curnow, Colin McDowall, Wilson Imrie, Jim Elder, James and Ian McKenna and John Lawson.

Upper Islamouth had a reasonably satisfying week with fish landed up to 17lb.

Kercock had a couple of fish, with Kenny Milne landing one at 14lb and Simon Rutherford one for 8lb.

Jamie Thomson landed on for 21lb at the Murthly and Glendelvin­e. Jon Wood landed one for 10lb at Newtyle.

Claire Howell caught one for 15lb at Dunkeld House, where Brian Lewis caught an 11lb springer.

Dalmarnock registered a fish and Dalguise got their season going with a couple. The Kinnaird beats had a brace also.

The Tummel has started to produce as the fish make their way to Pitlochry Dam, where Nick Webster caught one for 7lb and Saul Mackay landed one for 9lb.

The Isla is continuing to see salmon run the river with the Coupar Grange beat producing on a more regular basis, registerin­g eight last week.

The Ericht is also seeing fish run up the river, with a few fish caught, while on the Earn, Lochlane and Laggan registered their first fish of 2015.
