A Carnoustie man was jailed after he admitted making threats towards his former partner.

Graham Alexander Sharpe, 48, of James Street, admitted causing fear and alarm by committing the offence at Elmfield Avenue in Arbroath on March 20, while he was on bail.

Sheriff Robert Vaughan jailed Sharpe for two months, backdated to when he was first remanded on March 21.

A 20-year-old Arbroath man admitted stealing £50 in cash and ornamental knives from a Forfar business.

Brian Stewart of Emislaw Drive, broke into Strathmore Woollens on North Street, Forfar, between February 20 and 22.

Sheriff Vaughan deferred sentence until May 12 for a criminal justice social work report.
