Tartan Army foot soldiers in Arbroath were forced to relive the Auld Enemy’s greatest football triumph last night.

The Arbroath Relay for Life World Cup Challenge saw the 1966 World Cup Final played on the big screen followed by the sweetener of watching the remarkable performance in 1967, when Scotland beat the World Cup holders and claimed the title of unofficial world champions.

However, there was only one true winner at the event at the cricket club – cancer research.

All proceeds were going towards this year’s relay in Arbroath, which takes place on September 17, and more than £21,000 has been raised so far towards the £87,000 target.
