Corbyn’s tribute for stalwart

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has paid tribute to a stalwart of the left who he said never ran away from a struggle.

Mr Corbyn joined hundreds of mourners at the funeral of Dave Hopper, secretary of the Durham Miners’ Association, who he said had helped win “billions” of pounds of compensation for former pitmen.

“Davey Hopper never retreated, he never ran away,” said Corbyn of the 73-year-old.
