Second win for Barrable

The second race in the Sweatshop Tour of Fife (five races in five days) saw 157 runners complete a trail/hill race through the grounds of the picturesque Hill of Tarvit Estate, writes our athletics correspondent.

Corstorphine athlete Julian Barrable recorded his second victory, covering the 3.1-mile circuit, with its ascent to the hill monument at 692ft, in 18:09.

Under-20 junior Ailsa Cruickshanks, who competes for Fife AC over track and country, always represents her parent club Anster Haddies in local races, and the Haddie splash of a yellow vest was well to the fore, placing 16th overall in 21:29 – 59 seconds ahead of Elaine Omand (Dundee RR) in 23rd.

Jennifer Cruickshanks (Fife AC) followed five seconds back in 27th.

Falkland’s Lynn Stephen (Fife AC) excelled for the second night as first over-50 veteran, fourth female in 31st overall.
