New exhibitors welcome to take part in this year’s flower show
Carnoustie Flower Show will take place in the town’s leisure centre on August 12 and 13.
Despite the cold and wet spring and summer so far, the show organisers are now actively making final arrangements for this year’s show.
Exhibitors will be displaying entries in competitive classes for cut flowers, pot plants, vegetables, fruit, floral art, preserves, baking, handcrafts, photography and children’s section.
The top horticultural awards are the Royal Horticultural Society’s Grenfell Medal, which is awarded to the exhibitor who wins the most prize money in the floral art classes and the Society’s Rose Bowl for the most outstanding exhibit in the floral art classes.
First-time exhibitors are encouraged. Copies of the show’s schedule of classes are available and help in staging and entering exhibits are available by phoning 01382 370450.
There are more than 230 competitive classes with more than £500 in prize money and 30 trophies and medals to be awarded. Exhibits can be set up between 4pm and 11pm on August 11 and from 7am to 9am on August 12, when committee members will be on hand to assist.
All exhibits must be in place by 9am on August 12 so that judging can take place.
The show is open to the public from 3pm on August 12 and between 10am and 4pm on August 13.
Many colourful displays will be on view and there will be the usual stalls for plants, tombola and raffle.
Trophies will be presented at 4pm on August 13 by Mrs June Finlay from the Carnoustie Fobel Shop.
