125 Years of Margaret Morris
The Fergusson Gallery, Perth, until October 19
Actress, dancer, author, artist, visionary and pioneer – Margaret Morris was the lifelong partner of Scottish Colourist John Duncan Fergusson and a remarkable woman in her own right. She was ahead of her time in many ways, going so far as to state that the true genius of her work would only be recognised after her death.
An exhibition at The Fergusson Gallery, in collaboration with Stills Gallery in Edinburgh, tells the story of Margaret’s incredible life and diverse career and includes items from the vast collection of archive material she left behind.
Started by her mother, it contains various artwork, sketchbooks, programmes, diaries, dance costumes and photographs. The free event acknowledges the contributions and achievements of this underrepresented and incredibly talented woman and hopes to bring her life’s work to a wider audience.
