No resting on laurels for Fox

-

Cowdenbeath manager Liam Fox was pleased by his side’s pragmatic approach in last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Edinburgh City, but wants improvement at Clyde today.

Fox said: “Training was a bit more upbeat this week, and that was to be expected after winning a game.

“There was also a sense of relief as we didn’t want securing that first win to be hanging over us too long.”

“It was good to get it out of the way and, whilst it was not the greatest of performances, we got the job done against a well-organised Edinburgh City side.

“We started well and got a goal ahead. However, we never secured the win until late on.

“We need to improve in that area as we are still not ruthless enough.

“We really need to be putting games to bed as 1-0 is a very dangerous lead. But credit to the players as they did what they had to do, and that was to win.

“However, we cannot sit back and rest on our laurels as there are improvements to be made.”

Fox added: “Clyde have a good squad with some very good individual players in it, so this will be a big test for us. They will have been disappointed at losing to Annan last weekend and be looking to make up for that, so we will need to play well to take anything.”

Gerry McLauchlan is back in training after a rib injury, but this game may just come too soon for the big stopper.

Kenny Adamson remains out, with Burton O’Brien joining him on the sidelines with a jaw injury.

Clyde duo Jon-Paul McGovern and Scott Ferguson will miss out due to knee injuries. The Cumbernauld club also have an injury doubt over former Arbroath defender Jordan Lowdon.
