Multi-breed sale of rams

LAWRIE & SYMINGTON

(Forfar) held their annual multi-breed sale of rams yesterday, and had an entry of 197 forward with a 79% clearance rate.

There was also a show and sale of shearlings sponsored by Agri-Lloyd.

Judge for the day was Andrew Adam, Newhouse of Glamis, and his awards were as follows:

Suffolk shearling – 1 J Buchan, Torrax , £410; 2 TA Sands Ltd, Southfield, £410; 3 JW Farquharson, Horn.

Texel shearling – 1 A Greenhill, Westhall, £700; 2 R McNee Ltd, Over Finlarg, £610; 3 J Buchan, Torrax, £610.

Other leading breeds and prices: MV ACCREDITED Suffolk shearlings – £410 and £390 Southfield, £340 Horn.

Suffolk ram lambs – £540 and £410 East Ingliston, £350 Southfield.

Texel shearlings – £540 Over Finlarg and Torrax, £520 Over Finlarg, £510 Kerry Cottage, £470 Westhall, £460 Torrax, Horn and Nochnary.

Texel ram lambs – £350 Hatton of Carse, £330 Drumchapel, £310 Beechwynd, £300 Nochnary.
