Great golf is right on your doorstep

-

All eyes are on Minnesota this week as final preparations are made before the Ryder Cup gets under way at Hazeltine National Golf Club on Friday.

However, there’s no need to cross the pond to celebrate all the greatness the game has to offer.

Here in Courier Country, players of all abilities can count themselves lucky to have some of the finest courses in the world on their doorsteps – and the glorious autumn months are when Scotland really comes into its own.

Fife is famously the home of golf and the Old Course at Andrews has played host to the best-known names in the sport. However, it’s just one of dozens of locations across the Kingdom.

Angus is another area which can lay claim to the roots of the game and it remains a top-class destination, with attractions such as the Montrose Medal course – the fifth oldest in the world – and the Championship Course at Carnoustie, which has been hosting the Open since 1931.

Venture inland and you will find an abundance of wonderful locations around Angus and Dundee, with facilities to match the best around.

And while landlocked Perth and Kinross might not have the links courses which fringe the Fife and Angus coastlines, what the region does have is a selection of challenging and entertaining courses set amid some of the most stunning scenery Scotland has to offer.

From the world-famous splendour of Gleneagles’ three 18-hole layouts to tiny nine-hole courses tucked away in the Perthshire hills, there’s something to suit everyone.
