Shop fronts the focus of Kirrie CARS seminar

The conservati­on and repair of traditiona­l shop fronts is the focus of an upcoming Kirriemuir CARS seminar.

Dr Lindsay Lennie will give a talk on the subject at the town’s Old Parish Church Hall from 6pm to 8.30pm next Tuesday.

The event is part of the Kirriemuir Conservati­on Area Regenerati­on Scheme’s 2016 training programme in traditiona­l building skills.

Kirriemuir CARS is a partnershi­p between Angus Council and Historic Scotland to fund a grant programme aimed at enhancing the appearance of Kirriemuir Conservati­on Area.

Dr Lennie has more than 20 years’ experience as a chartered surveyor, including 10 years specialisi­ng in the conservati­on of historic retail buildings.

She has also written widely on the subject, including Scotland’s Shops and Traditiona­l Shop fronts: A short guide for building owners, both published by Historic Environmen­t Scotland.

Case studies of conservati­on and repair projects will feature in Dr Lennie’s talk which is free.
