Police closed the road in both directions for a number of hours following the incident. It was re-opened at around 7.20pm.

He recounted how the RVS was originally started as the Women’s Voluntary Service in 1938 before becoming the WRVS and eventually, since 2013, the RVS operating in England, Scotland and Wales.

Volunteers offer many services including Meals On Wheels, Good Neighbours schemes and community transport.

Mr Hutchison was introduced by Dr Rusty Smith and thanks were proposed by Angus Cruickshank.

KIRRIEMUIR: A sports centre closed its pool after human waste was found.

Webster’s Sports Centre began disinfection procedures on Monday night. All sessions were cancelled until this was completed at 6pm last night.
