Regular raises a glass to his beloved local

-

When an establishment in your patch is awarded the title of Pub of the Year then it is only diligent of a local newspaper reporter to spend the afternoon determining exactly why it has been named Scotland’s top tavern.

It is certainly easy to see why locals and visitors alike love the Ship Inn, with a roaring fire and big comfy chairs cosseting customers from the chill of the sea breeze.

One regular is Colinsburgh man Ronnie Duncan, who pops in for a swift drink on the way home from walking his five dogs.

He said: “Years ago there were mornings when you could be in here yourself.

“But since it’s been done up the standards have really stepped up as well.”

Embracing its coastal location, pictures of ships adorn the walls, while a recently created beer garden overlooks the bay – the perfect location for a summer session.

But while those are not unusual in a public house, urinals made out of metal buckets most certainly are, while electrical cords housed in huge coils of rope continue the nautical theme.
