Water firm off and running in English market

-

Regulator Ofwat has granted Business Stream a licence to compete in the non-domestic water market in England.

The company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fife-headquartered Scottish Water, has been a major player in the water market north of the border for eight years.

The regulator’s decision allows Business Stream to compete in England as the water supply market in the country opens up.

From April, 1.2 million businesses and public bodies will have the freedom to choose their water supplier for the first time.

Business Stream CEO Johanna Dow hailed the licence decision.
