Derby clash at Dunfermline

-

Dunfermline Reign host Tayside Musketeers in a local derby and a potential Scottish League basement battle at St Columba’s High School today.

A contrast in styles is predicted with Reign’s relatively young team preferring to play it fast while Muskies prefer to slow it down.

Reign, however, with new coach Steve Archer in charge, have got off to much the better start having won two and lost three while Muskies have still to get off the mark after five outings.

“We’re preparing for a fast, physical battle which may play a big part in the play-off positions,” said Archer, a former Worcester Wolves BBL and Glasgow University point guard. “Tayside are a big, aggressive unit and we’ll need to keep our intensity up.”

Tayside stand-in coach Paul Boath, who has been missing key players in all three of the games he has been in charge, said: “It’s frustrating and we’re still trying to find our rhythm – we’ve had good spells in games but we just need to extend that.”

Neither Tayside Musketeers nor St Andrews University have women’s fixtures this weekend.
