Knox in hunt after 63

-

Russell Knox fired a brilliant 63 to move into contention at the midway stage of the CIMB Classic in Malaysia.

The Scot has won two PGA Tour titles in the last 12 months but was left disappointed as he failed to make the European Ryder Cup team which was defeated at Hazeltine.

A win this week would see him get his 2017 campaign off to an excellent start but he will have to overturn a three-shot deficit and get past defending champion Justin Thomas who shot a 66 yesterday to get to 14 under.

India’s Anirban Lahiri is two shots behind Thomas after a second round of 66, while American James Hahn and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama were along- side Knox at 11 under.
