Man due to appear in court after two people found dead in Dundee.
MID CRAIGIE: Police and forensic officers converge on residential area
A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with two deaths in a Dundee street.
He is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today following the deaths of a 32-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman yesterday morning.
There was intense police activity on Drumlanrig Drive, the scene of the disturbance, throughout the day.
A section of the street was cordoned off and forensic officers could be seen combing the area.
Meanwhile, a forensics tent was set up outside a property on the street.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
Neighbours spoke of their shock, describing the area as “quiet” and “normally peaceful”.
The two people who died have been named locally as Julie McCash and David Sorrie, although the police have not released any names.
Detective Chief Inspector Keith Hardie, from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “There will be a strong police presence in the area while our investigation continues and I would like to thank the local community in advance for their patience.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to stress that this has been a contained and isolated incident.
“There has been no threat to the wider public at any stage.”
He continued: “I would urge anyone with information to please contact police. Likewise anyone who saw or heard anything in the area that could be of assistance.
“Please contact police as soon as possible on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
Beyond the scene of the incident, Drumlanrig Drive remained quiet throughout the day yesterday, with the majority of residents remaining indoors as the investigation unfolded.
One resident who lives close to the scene said the disturbance had happened around 6am yesterday, adding: “By 8am there were lots of police officers in the area.
“I didn’t see much though.”
