They claimed the points despite Zack Fitzgerald opening the scoring for the visitors after four minutes.

Mathew Sisca opened Fife’s account 10 minutes later and Brendan Brooks put the home side ahead.

Mathieu Roy made things interesting on the powerplay when he levelled after 27 minutes but Sisca’s unassisted second four minutes later restored the home side’s lead.

John Armstrong equalised again after 41 minutes but three unanswered goals sealed the deal. Chase Schaber scored on the power play after 46 minutes with Justin Fox, restored to the team after an appeal against his five-game ban, claiming a fifth.

Carlo Finucci completed the scoring with an empty net strike with less than three minutes left.

On Saturday, Fife had an unhappy trip to championship-chasing Belfast Giants.

They went 2-0 behind to goals from Michael Forney and Steve Saviano before Seb Thinel pulled one back unassisted in the ninth minute.

Saviano scored on the power play 19 seconds from the first break to make it 3-1 but Finucci scored Fife’s second, with Thomas Muir and Brooks assisting.

Then the floodgates opened and Giants plundered four unanswered goals with Saviano and Jerome Leduc each scoring twice.
