Blue Brazil boss says standards must rise

-

Cowdenbeath manager Liam Fox is demanding a huge improvement from his side against Edinburgh City tonight.

Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Arbroath was a painful one but Fox knows that a win this evening would pull the Fifers to within a point of their visitors with two games in hand.

“Saturday was simply not acceptable,” he said.

“It came nowhere near the standards I will accept or the players are capable of. It was the worst we have played all season.”

The Fifers parted company with Dean Brett at the end of last week after well-documented issues regarding bets being placed on games and Fox believes that the affair may have had an impact.

He said: “The display summed up the disappointment of recent events. However, we cannot feel sorry for ourselves and need to move on.

“It is therefore great to have this game so soon afterwards. It is a massive match for us and there will be a lot of pressure attached to it. We need to show that we can handle that pressure and that we can get a result.

“I am expecting a reaction after the weekend and we will need one as we had Edinburgh City watched at the weekend and they were unlucky to lose at Stirling.”

Kenny Adamson remains out with a back problem and Matthew Rooney is struggling after picking up a knock at the weekend.
