Cases dealt with at Forfar court
Daniel Healey of Prosen Road, Kirriemuir, was placed on an 18-month community payback order (CPO), including supervision, when he appeared before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar.
Sentence had previously been deferred on the 23-year-old after he admitted an indictment alleging assault in 2015 and possession of a metal baton.
Defence solicitor Ian Flynn said Healey had been given the opportunity to engage with support services and a social work report indicated he was doing that.
Setting a review hearing for three months to consider whether Healey is fit to carry out unpaid work, Sheriff Murray told the accused: “I make it clear to you that I do not consider a community payback order with supervision on its own is a suitable final disposal for what you did. Ultimately I intend to impose a significant amount of unpaid work when you are able to do it.”
Also at Forfar: Donald Milne, 45, of Kirkton Park, Forfar, was placed on a two-year CPO with a condition that he participates in the Fergus programme for domestic offenders having previously been convicted of assaulting his partner at his home address on June 3 last year and behaving in a threatening manner towards her on July 19.
Sheriff Murray said: “You have a limited record and this will be imposed as an alternative to custody.”
