Flo Cruickshank welcomed members and then introduced Joe Wishart, who gave an account of all things Scottish, including the life and rise to fame of Scottish singers and entertainers Robert Wilson, Kenneth McKellar, Andy Stewart and Callum Kennedy. DRUMGEITH. Ian Lilley spoke about the world of honey bees. Competitions: lemon drizzle cake – 1 V Anderson, 2 P Davidson; Honey poem – 1 M Sutherland, 2 D Willington, 3 A Walker; flower of the month – W Dingwell.
EASSIE and NEVAY.
Dr Philip James gave a talk entitled Oxygen and Healing. Competitions: fruit smoothie – 1 S Mitchell, 2 I McClure, 3 D Murray; poem on ageing – 1 F Brown, 2 A Thorpe, 3 M Waddell; flower of the month – 1 J Thompson, 2 A McLeod, 3 M Marshall.
FARNELL. There was a demonstration on felt craft by Aileen Weir. Competitions: flower of the month – 1 D Stewart, 2 S Ramsay, 3 A Garrick; brooch (hand crafted) – 1 M Barclay, 2 N Short.
FOWLIS and LIFF.
President June Lawson introduced Lundie SWI, who entertained with recitations, a cookery demonstration and a quiz. Competitions: small pot of savoury dip–1AWood,2M Douglas, 3 U Horspool; a favourite show programme – 1 U Horspool, 2 J Lawson, 3 R Burry; flower of the month – U Horspool.
GLENISLA.
President Sheelagh Cameron welcomed group members and their friends and introduced Jim Broon and friends who entertained with music, singing and stories. Competition: slice of clootie dumpling – 1 E Guthrie, 2 J Redpath.
LUNDIE. Neil Wimberley spoke about the Royal Company of Archers.
Competition: small plate of pate – 1 D McKendrick, 2 A
Gellatly, 3 T Bowen. MONIKIE and NEWBIGGING. The theme for the evening was A Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, with each member adorning a decorated Alice Band.
Competitions: small bottle of mocktail – 1 A Smith, 2 L Johnston, 3 M Whyte; decorated Alice band – 1 T Prophet and M Anderson, 3 O Brow; flower of the month – M Whyte.
ST CYRUS. Visitors from other groups in the area were welcomed to an open night that took place in the village hall, where David Ogilvie, from Butternut Bistro in Inverbervie, presented a cookery demonstration and tasting session.
Competition: bulb – 1 K Scott, 2 H Keith.
ST VIGEANS. Ann Frith and Janice Swankie welcomed all members and introduced Irene Stephen, coordinator for Project Linus UK, Tayside (Dundee and Angus), a volunteer organisation providing security and comfort to sick and traumatised babies, children and teenagers.

STANLEY. Fiona Lough talked about her time in South Sudan. The institute won the Margaret Paton Quaich and came second in the Rural Olympics competition at Murthly. Competitions: favourite tartan item – 1 L Fermor, 2 D Campbell, 3 M Rennie; candle – 1 C Lammie, 2 K Baldie, 3 C Skelton; shortbread – 1 J Gill, 2 K Baldie, 3 L Fermor; flower of month –1WReid,2E Valentine, 3 J Gill.
WESTMUIR.
President Evelyn Thompson welcomed members and introduced Heather Forrest, who shared with members her expertise on creating and restoring miniature dolls/animals, as well as creating dioramas using handcrafted miniature items, set to scale.
