EASSIE and NEVAY.

FARNELL. There was a demonstrat­ion on felt craft by Aileen Weir. Competitio­ns: flower of the month – 1 D Stewart, 2 S Ramsay, 3 A Garrick; brooch (hand crafted) – 1 M Barclay, 2 N Short.

FOWLIS and LIFF.

President June Lawson introduced Lundie SWI, who entertaine­d with recitation­s, a cookery demonstrat­ion and a quiz. Competitio­ns: small pot of savoury dip–1AWood,2M Douglas, 3 U Horspool; a favourite show programme – 1 U Horspool, 2 J Lawson, 3 R Burry; flower of the month – U Horspool.

GLENISLA.

President Sheelagh Cameron welcomed group members and their friends and introduced Jim Broon and friends who entertaine­d with music, singing and stories. Competitio­n: slice of clootie dumpling – 1 E Guthrie, 2 J Redpath.

LUNDIE. Neil Wimberley spoke about the Royal Company of Archers.

Competitio­n: small plate of pate – 1 D McKendrick, 2 A

Gellatly, 3 T Bowen. MONIKIE and NEWBIGGING. The theme for the evening was A Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, with each member adorning a decorated Alice Band.

ST CYRUS. Visitors from other groups in the area were welcomed to an open night that took place in the village hall, where David Ogilvie, from Butternut Bistro in Inverbervi­e, presented a cookery demonstrat­ion and tasting session.

ST VIGEANS. Ann Frith and Janice Swankie welcomed all members and introduced Irene Stephen, coordinato­r for Project Linus UK, Tayside (Dundee and Angus), a volunteer organisati­on providing security and comfort to sick and traumatise­d babies, children and teenagers.

STANLEY. Fiona Lough talked about her time in South Sudan. The institute won the Margaret Paton Quaich and came second in the Rural Olympics competitio­n at Murthly. President Evelyn Thompson welcomed members and introduced Heather Forrest, who shared with members her expertise on creating and restoring miniature dolls/animals, as well as creating dioramas using handcrafte­d miniature items, set to scale.
