Broughty finally come good to notch up win

super league: Bluebell the victims as Fed find form

- PETER RUNDO

BROUGHTY ATHLETIC claimed their first league victory in 11 attempts, a 3-1 win over DUNDONALD BLUEBELL at Whitton Park, thanks to a determined second-half showing.

Keeper Iain Ross was a nervy Fed’s saviour in the first half, limiting Dundonald to a 26th-minute penalty converted by Lewis McKenzie.

Shaka Roy levelled from the spot after he had been up-ended with five minutes of the first half left.

Keith Gibson’s side were in almost total ascendancy after the interval. They scored twice and it could easily have been more.

Barry Myles stabbed home a Paul McLellan cross on 62 minutes.

Kevin Buchan headed home from a McLellan corner five minutes later.

CARNOUSTIE PANMURE had the points in the bag by half-time after banging in four goals against bottom of the table visitors Fauldhouse United.

Sam Simpson’s opener came via an 11th-minute penalty for handball.

Jamie McCabe made it two on 19 minutes with a free-kick curled into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

Demonstrating it was no fluke, he repeated the trick just after the half hour for the third.

Gordon McDonald headed number four a minute later.

The only consolation for the beleaguered visitors was that the Gowfers failed to take any of the many chances they created after the break.

LOCHEE UNITED and Musselburgh fought out a dour, goalless stalemate at Thomson Park.

Chances were at a premium throughout.

The Bluebells had to hang on in the last five minutes after defender Dougie Cameron was sent off.
