Kinnoull hit back with late goals

-

It was as you were at the top of the North League, with the four leading clubs all meeting each other and all drawing.

Second-place KIRRIE THISTLE will be kicking themselves at surrendering a two-goal lead in the last seven minutes away to KINNOULL.

An early Darren Scott strike was followed by a Bryan Duell counter after 35 minutes.

Although on top, the Westview outfit failed to add to their tally.

A superb Rhys Davies goal reduced the leeway and Tom Whyte hammered in a stoppage-time free-kick from 22 yards for an unlikely leveller.

Remarkably, given that it is mid-March, leaders SCONE THISTLE were third-placed THORNTON HIBS’ first foots.

Thistle’s Sean Fergus opened the scoring five minutes before half-time, but a Sean Keatings penalty after 76 minutes earned the Fifers a point. EAST CRAIGIE cantered to a 3-0 victory over BRECHIN VICS at Craigie Park.

Greg Warwick put them ahead on 13 minutes but they had to wait until early in the second half for a tangible return on their dominance.

Man-of-the-match Lee Maloney started and finished the second after 52 minutes, with Liam McArtney adding the third two minutes later.

BLAIRGOWRIE’s rotten recent run continued, with a 2-1 defeat at home to HARP extending their winless run to five games.

Sam McDonald and Ryan McKillen scored in each half for the visitors before Ian Plenderleith netted Blair’s late consolation. LUNCARTY took all the points from ARBROATH VICS at Brownlands Park,

winning 2-1. They were well worth their two-goal interval lead, courtesy of Stuart Nicol and Lewis Allan.

A Ricky Gillespie goal reduced the leeway four minutes into the second half.

However, the Bleachers were never really in danger. FORFAR ALBION came from two down at home to COUPAR ANGUS to draw.

Goals from Tom Casey and Chris Liversage, after nine and 15 minutes, seemingly put the Perthshire visitors in the driving seat.

However, Owen McCabe pulled one back before the interval and, with 13 minutes remaining, Jayden Murphy equalised.

Meanwhile, in the only South League fixture to beat the weather, bottom of the league KIRKCALDY YM were beaten 4-1 at home by leaders Blackburn United.

Scott Small was the YM scorer.
