Testimonial night for loyal servants

-

Dundee United and Forfar fans have the chance to pay tribute to two long-serving stalwarts of the local football scene tonight.

Tangerines club captain Sean Dillon’s testimonial against Hearts takes place at Tannadice with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The Irishman, who damaged his ankle against St Mirren last Wednesday night and left Paisley on crutches, is still expected to lead his side out and play some part in the game.

Several of Dillon’s ex-team-mates are set to take part, including the likes of Christian Kalvenes, Lee Wilkie, Scott Severin and Noel Hunt, as well as members of the 2010 Scottish Cupwinning side, such as Jon Daly, Garry Kenneth, Andy Webster, Scott Robertson and Craig Conway.

The manager who led United to glory at Hampden that day, current Falkirk boss Peter Houston, will take charge of Dillon’s team for the second half of the testimonial, while the man who brought him to the club back in 2007, Craig Levein, will helm the Jambos in the second 45.

Club legends Dave Bowman (United) and John Robertson (Hearts) are also expected to make appearances during the game with the latter managing the visitors in the first half.

Cash gates will be in operation with prices at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions.

At the same time at Station Park, Martyn Fotheringham will have his testimonial match against Dundee.

Dens boss Paul Hartley, who played alongside “Foxy” when they were both at St Johnstone, has promised to send a strong Dark Blues squad up for the game.

Fotheringham signed for the Loons in 2007 and has made more than 290 appearances for Forfar over the 10 seasons.

Manager Gary Bollan is certain to utilise the vast majority of his pool over the 90 minutes, with one or two guest players also due to make cameo appearances.

The match also kicks off at 7.45pm and fans can pay at the gate, with tickets priced £10 for adults and £5 for concessions (65 and over, under-17s).

The 1984 Lounge at the ground will be open from 6.30pm and for a short period after the final whistle.
