Adrenaline rush

-

Where can you drive a tank, zip wire through trees and kayak round caves? It’s all here, so get stuck in.

Whether you’re floating high in a balloon, out on the water or hiking up a mountain, there are plenty of activities with great thrills that you can enjoy with friends and family in Scotland.

Get the adrenaline pumping by riding the torrents of fast-moving rivers, off-road driving, or even kayaking.

Remember, you don’t have to be a real athlete to enjoy any of these great outdoor experiences – there are many iconic places that offer varying levels of outdoor activities.

At Monikie Country Park you can take to the water with lessons or sessions for sailing, kayaking, canoeing and windsurfing.

If you’ve got a head for heights, there’s a spectacular high ropes facility built through the treetops with a daring 40ft climbing tower and an exhilarating 100m zip wire.

The slopes around Angus aren’t only enjoyed by hill walkers, there are several high-octane mountain biking trails, including some epic routes in the Angus Glens.

When the tide is low, sea kayakers can enjoy paddling in the sandstone cliffs, caves and bays in Arbroath, Carnoustie, Lunan and Montrose.

Or at Auchterhouse you can traverse the grounds on the back of a powerful quad, crossing different terrain and scenery.

Also in Auchterhouse but a bit more unusual, at the Tank Driving Scotland base, you can enjoy a remarkable day at the controls of an 18 tonne tank, as you try to drive over humps and bumps.

You can also get active indoors. Take to the ice at Dundee Ice Arena, where you can practise your pirouettes and dazzle the crowds with your ice skating skills. Or why not hit the karting track at full speed, overtake your friends and experience the thrill of racing with gokarts at Scot Kart in Dundee?

At the Knockhill Racing Circuit, you can put the pedal to the metal and go a bit faster while enjoying a white-knuckle ride. Combining the thrill of sailing with the adrenaline buzz of racing car style driving, land yachting is an exhilarating activity and can be experienced on St Andrews’ West Sands.

Or you could try your hand at wakeboarding and water skiing at Townhill Country Park in Dunfermline.
